Tiny Bit of Style - APHA Breeding Stock (Mare)
Tiny Bit of Style (Zoe) was born on my in-laws farm in 2003. She's out of Wrap N Style (APHA breeding stock) and Tiny Bit Tru (foundation AQHA). The moment she hit the ground I told my husband I wanted her. So he bought her from his parents for me. Unfortunately, I was busy having babies and wasn't able to spend the time with her that she required so I sold her to my brother-in-law's in-laws (make any sense???). They used her as a broodmare and rode her lightly. Once they got the colt they were looking for, they sold her to a friend of my brother-in-law as a trail horse. They used her for a year and then she became a pasture ornament due to health reasons (theirs, not hers). They decided to sell her and contacted my brother-in-law for his first buy-back rights (they had a contract). He offered her to me and I knew that this was my last opportunity to ever own her so I agreed. The timing was perfect! It was meant to be! But in my haste to get her back, I skipped over some crucial horse buying steps (I know, shame on me!). I didn't take her for a test ride and took their word for how broke she was. Turns out, she's quite green (found that out the hard way). I decided to start this blog as a training journal. To help me track the progress we've made, the different techniques we try and our successes/failures. Unfortunately, life has made it increasingly difficult to give Zoe the daily riding/training that she needs (and wants) so I found a fantastic home for her not too far away! I will be visiting often!
Features Illusion - AQHA (Mare)
Features Illusion (Star) is a 1996 mare with the Impressive bloodlines. She was my in-laws horse, one of their first horses they bought. Then she was a green broke 4 year old mare and now she is my trusted, get on and go riding partner. We have grown so much since then that she has become my trusted mount. She is my go to gal for riding. When I just need to go for a stress free ride, she's my girl. I love that mare and we have developed a trusting relationship. She'll do just about anything if I ask her. My kids can ride her now and I trust her with them. Star has only ever been a trail horse for a career, but she's extremely versatile.
Tyson is a 2000 gelding out of the same mare as Zoe. Tyson was trained as a heading horse for team roping and traveled all over Michigan with my brother-in-law. After a career ending injury, Tyson has come to our house to retire. He's been a great addition to our small herd and is full of personality - much like his sister, Zoe. Tyson has been a part of my hubby's family since he was born and will continue to be a part of ours until the good Lord takes him from us. We love that ole boy!
Poco Dot Cocoa (Melody) is a 2013 filly out of PocoDot Lena and out of Dave's Cocoa Lady. We bought her off the Pitzer Ranch for our middle daughter. We are looking forward to see what her future holds with our family! She's an amazing, smart, gentle and beautiful girl who has the potential to be an awesome riding horse and later a broodmare! We are smitten already!

I am an avid horse lover. Have been since I was a young girl. My friends and I were horse crazy girls that would go horseback riding whenever we could. I would clean stalls all day if that meant I got to go for a ride when I was done! My parents brought me to riding lessons every week for several years. I trained with Elizabeth Niemi (dressage instructor) for most of those years. I also took lessons from a hunt seat instructor for about 1 year. I've only ever shown one time and shortly after, I had to take a break from riding. It was a very hard thing for me to accept but I knew that some day I would get my own horse and ride again. Little did I know I would have to wait 15 years! My goal for riding now is to have fun, teach my children and maybe even learn to do some reining and western dressage!
